6/9 Cubs lineup

The Cubs open a four-game series at Pittsburgh Monday night. Edwin Jackson gets the start. Here’s the lineup:

Bonifacio 2B
Lake CF
Rizzo 1B
Castro SS
Valbuena 3B
Schierholtz RF
Coghlan LF
Baker C
Jackson P

* The Cubs’ last six games have been decided by three or fewer runs, including three one-run contests, with the Cubs going 5-1 in that span. This follows a stretch in which six-straight games, May 26-June 1, were each decided by four or more runs (and the team was 2-4).

* Overall, 38 of the Cubs’ 60 games (63 percent) have been decided by three or fewer runs and they are 13-25 in those contests. The Cubs have been involved in 28 games decided by two or fewer runs, and have a 8-20 record in those games.

* Edwin Jackson enters with a 4.59 ERA (35 ER/68 2/3 IP) in 12 starts, over a run lower than the 5.76 ERA (42 ER/65 2/3 IP) in his first 12 starts of last season. If you take away the eight runs in four innings Jackson served up May 23 in San Diego, he’s pitched to a 3.76 ERA (27 ER/64 2/3 IP) in his 11 other starts this year.
