* Until his first-inning error last night, Cubs shortstop Starlin Castro had gone a career-high 38-straight games without an error (149 total chances) dating to June 18. It was the longest errorless stretch by a Cubs shortstop since Ryan Theriot had a 46-game errorless streak from April 28-July 25, 2007.
* The Cubs have used six rookie pitchers this season who have combined to post a 2.88 ERA (43 ER/134 1/3 IP) in 99 games (nine starts) with three saves and 23 holds: Dallas Beeler, Kyle Hendricks, Neil Ramirez, Zac Rosscup, Brian Schlitter and Tsuyoshi Wada.
