2/16 Signs of spring

The Cubs front office will have organizational meetings Tuesday and Wednesday as they prepare for Thursday, the first day pitchers and catchers are to report to Spring Training. There will be a workout Friday; the time/schedule is still to be determined.

2/4 Cubs spring broadcast schedule

Nearly every Cubs Spring Training game will be available to fans via television, radio or internet radio broadcast. The team announced its 2015 Spring Training broadcast schedule on Wednesday. In total, a Cubs game will be available every game day of the spring schedule via one or more broadcast mediums, and 30 of the 33 games are scheduled to be available to Cubs fans overall.

The schedule features 10 games televised by Cubs broadcast partners (seven by Comcast SportsNet Chicago and three by WGN-TV), eight on the WBBM Newsradio 780 Cubs Radio Network, and 21 via Internet radio broadcast on http://www.Cubs.com. Fans will be able to access the Cubs Webcasts on Cubs.com and MLB.com for free by registering for a log-in account with the website.

WBBM-AM Newsradio 780, the new radio rights holder, will air its first game on March 7 when the Cubs play at the Rockies with Pat Hughes and Ron Coomer on the call. Comcast SportsNet Chicago’s first game will occur from Las Vegas on March 13 when the Cubs play the Athletics. WGN-TV has its first game on March 15 when the Cubs host the Reds at Sloan Park. Len Kasper and Jim Deshaies return to call all Cubs TV games.

Kasper will again join Mick Gillispie, radio broadcaster for Chicago’s Double-A Tennessee affiliate, for most of the cubs.com internet radio broadcasts.

1/8 Sloan Park

The Cubs’ Spring Training ballpark in Mesa, Ariz., now will be called Sloan Park. The team announced Sloan Valve Company, a 109-year-old company, as the new naming rights partner. A Chicago-area based company, Sloan has joined the Cubs as a Legacy Partner.

Sloan is a leading global manufacturer of water-efficient solutions. A fourth-generation family business, Sloan prides itself on promoting a healthy environment through water conservation. The Cubs will utilize Sloan’s products in the Mesa ballpark and target integration inside Wrigley Field and its surrounding facilities as part of the 1060 Project construction.

The 2015 Cactus League season will be the second at the ballpark, which had been known as Cubs Park. The Cubs’ first spring game will be March 5 against the Athletics. Pitchers and catchers report to Mesa on Feb. 19, and position players report Feb. 24. New Cubs manager Joe Maddon will hold his first full squad workout on Feb. 25.

1/5 Cubs 2015 spring schedule

The Cubs announced their entire 2015 Spring Training schedule Monday with game times and report dates. Pitchers and Catchers are scheduled to report on Feb. 19 with the first workout taking place on Feb. 20. Position players are scheduled to report on Feb. 24 and the first full squad workout will be Feb. 25.

The Cubs have added four games to the schedule since its original release. The team will play a pair of games in Las Vegas against the Athletics on March 13-14. The Cubs will conclude Spring Training with two games against the Diamondbacks at Chase Field on April 3-4.

The Cubs Spring Training Cactus schedule for 2015 is posted below. All games start at 1:05 p.m. Arizona time unless otherwise noted. Cubs split squad games are denoted with an (ss).

The Cubs are headed back to Las Vegas to play the Athletics in split squad Spring Training games March 13-14. The Cubs were already scheduled to play host to the Indians on March 13 at Cubs Park and travel to Maryvale, Ariz., to face the Brewers on March 14. Game times have not been determined for the Chicago vs. Oakland games at Cashman Field in Las Vegas.

The two games against the Athletics are in addition to the Cubs’ Cactus League schedule, which was released last month. The Cubs open Spring Training on March 5 with split-squad games against the A’s at Cubs Park and against the Giants in Scottsdale. This is Chicago’s second Spring Training at their new facility in Mesa, Ariz.

The Cubs’ Cactus League schedule includes 15 games at Cubs Park and 16 road games.

The Cubs and White Sox will meet twice with a game March 20 in Glendale and another game March 27 in Mesa. The Cubs conclude Cactus League play on April 1 against the Brewers at Cubs Park.

10/8 Cubs spring schedule

The Cubs will open Cactus League play on March 5 with split-squad games against the Athletics at Cubs Park and against the Giants in Scottsdale, beginning their second Spring Training at their new facility.

The club’s 29-game Cactus League schedule includes 15 games at Cubs Park and 14 road games. The team may add additional games in the future.

The Cubs and White Sox will meet twice with a game March 20 in Glendale and another game March 27 in Mesa. The Cubs conclude Cactus League play on April 1 against the Brewers at Cubs Park.

On Wednesday, prior to the Cubs’ intrasquad game, the media was treated to some of the new food at Cubs Park in Mesa. The food, which is being handled by Ovations, offers a lot of variety, from pastrami to chicken nachos. Jay Satenspiel, regional vice president of Ovations, says fans will be able to eat something different at every Cactus League game.
